Virginian Cardinal

The Virginian Cardinal is an incredibly striking bird, it is a native of the lower eastern states of the USA.

The song is somewhat like the European Nightingale and indeed in the early days of the American Colony the bird was known as the Virginian Nightingale.

The Virginian Cardinal is also thought to be the first bird to have ben exported from North America as a cage bird to Europe
